One Year Later…

We just celebrated one year in our home! See how everything looks one year later and take a look back at where we started.

It doesn’t even seem possible, but we just celebrated one year in our home. Yep, one year ago we were busy moving in and unpacking.

I can remember the excitement of opening boxes and looking at things that had been in storage for waaay tooo long— and the relief that the building process was over!

Don’t get me wrong, it was so much fun to design and build our home, but it was exhausting at times and we were so over it towards the end!

But now that we’ve been here a year, I couldn’t help but look back at where we started.

It’s amazing to see what can happen in a year, and our home certainly hasn’t been an exception to that.

Let’s take a peek at where we started and where we’re currently at, shall we?

Here we go!

One Year Later

I’ve always loved the outdoors (farm girl, remember)… which is a good thing considering all the work we’ve had (and will have) to put into our yard. We started with an absolutely blank slate. With rocks. Lots of rocks.

Technically, we’d already done quite a bit of landscaping at this point…. we brought in a ton of dirt, the sprinklers were in and we’d actually planted a few trees and a lot of bushes!

Here’s where we’re at now:

We’re still so busy working on landscaping and outdoor projects (more to come this summer), but we’ve made a ton of progress so far!

Let’s move inside, shall we?

Here’s our entry when we moved in…

Entry Before

It actually kind of hurts to look at that… It doesn’t reflect us at all…

Here it is now:

I still have so many things that I want to do, but at least it reflects us now.

And now the dining room before…

Dining Room Before

And here it is now, but boy, I have soo many plans for this room. I shared one of them here.

The kitchen is another room that still isn’t finished… I’m still waiting for that handsome husband of mine to install our back splash…  He’s become immune to my constant begging…sigh

The breakfast nook is still in progress too, but here’s where we started:

And here’s where we’re at now…

I couldn’t wait to have Anthony build a bench… and install our plank wall… and let me just tell ya… It’s made all the difference!

The laundry room is another room that we’ve been working on and, you guessed it, it’s still not finished!

Here’s what we started with:

Laundry Room Before

This was the first room that I repainted after we moved in. I liked the color at first, but then it started to eat at me… Plus, this room in general really bugged me. I told you all about my frustrations here.

Here it is now. We still have so much to do, but it looks so much better!

And, yes, I’m still completely in love our PB knock off table and the hanging ironing board rack. It’s a life changer.

The mudroom has undergone a few of it’s own changes too.

Here’s the before:

And here it is now….

Still so much to do, but it’s so. much. better. than before!

The master bedroom has also seen it’s fair share of changes- you just haven’t seen very many of them…

Here’s where we started:

Master Bedroom Before

And this is what it looks like today.

It’s sad really, how long I’ve ignored our bedroom. I’ve really been trying to change that lately.

So, obviously I haven’t shown you all of our home… You haven’t seen much of our master bathroom, guest bathrooms, office, living room, guest bedroom and basement…. I’m still busy trying to figure out what we’re going to do with each of them. It all takes time, and this post is sure proof of that.

I must say though, It’s been really interesting to see how much my style has changed, just from when we moved in!

I’m not saying that I’m kicking myself for the way that we chose to do things when we built, but I can see that I’ll probably be changing a few things here and there.

Don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know when we decide to do any changes.

In the mean time, I’m so happy with the progress that we’ve made in our first year at home. This year has been such an unbelievable blessing…

Thanks for joining along on our journey!
