Office Desk Organizer… A Makeover Story!

Thrift stores are my favorite… I get such a rush walking through them because you never know what you will find! Today’s project is no different. When I stumbled upon this at the thrift store, they had it labeled as a jewelry box. I guess is was possible, but I saw it as a desk organizer.

Here’s what it looked like when I brought it home:

Look how awesome it is inside:

How could I pass that up? I knew that a coat of spray paint and a freshly painted inside would transform this piece from drab to fab.

Let me just tell you… I LOVE the transformation!

It’s the perfect addition to my desk and it makes finding my favorite pens easy peasy. I also like that I can hide stuff in there… that way sticky hands don’t run off with my favorites… I’m a little weird when it comes to pens, especially my favs. I know I can’t be the only one…

It’s the perfect addition to my desk. I love the versatility- it can do so many things!

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, thrift store finds can be the best!

  1. Very nicely done! I keep forgetting to keep an open mind when I come across things that don’t look quite as nice the way they are or are the wrong color….thanks for sharing and reminding me to “see” what a little paint can do.

  2. I think the choice of grey paint inside is really modern. I’m always too tempted by colour but I never know when to stop so everything ends up looking like a rainbow. Sometimes I wish I could dial it back and keep it simple.

    1. Thank you for your comment Charlie! I know what you mean about color. I love it too, but luckily I’ve been trying to bring more pops of gray into my office, so it was the perfect choice for my desk organizer.
